The Palo Santo Stick (meaning “Holy Wood” in Spanish) is a sacred aromatic wood from a mystical tree that grows on the South American coast. It’s been used by the people of the Andes for generations as a spiritual remedy for purifying the soul, cleansing negative energies, and calming emotions. 

To create an incense during a ritual or in moments of meditation, creation or intention-setting, light one end and hold at a 45-degree angle, pointing the tip down toward the flame. Allow it to burn for 30 seconds to 1 minute, then blow it out, close your eyes, and deeply inhale.

White Sage has been used since ancient times to dispel negative energy and cleanse the air of impurities. Native Americans traditionally burned it to generate wisdom, enhance intuition and promote healing. 

Light the end with a match until it smolders and releases smoke. You can “smudge” your body or your home. I like to smudge as I set intentions and create a sacred space before prayer, yoga, meditation and writing.
